Goodbye New York

As it's now after midnight, it's officially my last day in New York. I've had a really good week since coming back from Boston - relaxing, definitely, but I've also done some cool things!

On Thursday last week, Gina, Chaya and I went to an author carnival at the library. The highlight of this was getting free books. Free ones. We had dinner with Melissa after, as well, which was fun. The cafe where we went was in the Village, and it was AMAZING. Like the Three Monkeys, but more awesome.

Saturday Gina's family and I went out to Bear Mountain and a place called Storm King Sculpture Garden. The drive reminded me a little of the Gold Coast hinterland, actually. The Sculpture Garden was an enormous property with giant abstract art-y things all around. They were great - and the weather was lovely, so it was a really ejoyable day. I'm really glad I got a chance to see some more of New York State, not only the city. Plus I loved the extreme similarity of the Elliott family outings to the Bentley family outings. It was nice.

I said my goodbyes to NYC today, Gina and I went on an adventure to SoHo and had the most AMAZING noodles I've ever had in my existence as a person. Yes. I really liked the area as well, kind of arty and comfortable. Plus we had these amazing tiny little cupcakes - delicious but only about the size of a 50 cent piece.

Tonight Gina, Rox and I went to see Wicked. We had fantastic seats - a birthday present from Gina's parents (thankyou!) - and the cast was phenomenal. Glinda was hilarious, Elphaba was misunderstood and powerful, Fiyero was loving and honest. Vocally I couldn't fault them, and the production was beautifully staged. Ahh, music nerd. It was amazing.

I'm going to have to pack tomorrow. I'm going to the airport at 4.

See you soon, Brisbanites.
